I still recall the time my daughter (then aged 9ish, listening to Beethoven in her room) and son (then aged 10ish, listening to Miles Davis in his room) came down to ask me to turn down The Clash because it was disturbing them.
So was I :) When I'm working at home (or pretty much all the time really) I have something playing. Offspring learned remarkably early to time their requests for cash and favours with the right piece of music.
The scary thing is that my Dad was exactly the same. If he was humming Beethoven's 9th or especially one of Bach's cello pieces I knew I could nip in quick and ask for lifts at inconvenient times or subs on the pocket money. Mahler on the other hand...
