WHAT?

There's a political survey going around. Economically, absolutely no-one is to the left of me, apparently. However, the second (LESS IMPORTANT, I'd like to emphasise) told me this:

Based on the answers you've given us, we judge that of the well-known parties, BNP voters have views most like yours.

I am outraged. I hope hope hope hope that that means that there are some "jokers" claiming to be voting for the BNP. Especially since according to the bar graph thingy, BNP are more left than Green voters. Ten percent of Daily Mail readers are apparently to the left of me. I agree with none of the right wing sentiments.

I got that! Major left-wing points on the first axis and 'you are a typical guardian reader' messages and then on page three they tell me I'm most like a UKIP voter. I weep from the shame.

I'm hoping that it's because I said don't know on a few things - like GM - because I realised that I don't know enough about them to have an opinion.

But that I think like a BNP voter? It can't be. Someone would surely have pointed out that I was a moron by now.

[identity profile] nerdcakes.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I re-took it and went with a gut feeling on the ones I'd previously said 'no opinion' on and they think I'm a Green voter now. Which is reassuring.

me too. that freaked me out very much.

Blimey, I didn't get that - leftiest lefty who ever lefted on the first axis, and fairly left-wing on the second (though I'm not sure why I didn't come out leftier).

'Lefty' is a really odd word when you write it many times.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
I got left-of-centre on the second axis, probably because I put don't know on quite a few things, but I am flabbergasted.

Am I secretly very, very racist and no-one's noticed? Or they're all being very polite and not telling me that I'm an evil bigot?

[identity profile] yiskah.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
OK, I just went and did it again, changing all my agrees and disagrees to stronglies, and I got the same as you on the second one! I totally don't understand it.

[identity profile] cangetmad.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much dead on for me - nobody's more leftie, and I'm a Green. Gosh, really?

[identity profile] cangetmad.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
Also, I'm the leftiest Herald reader they've ever seen.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
No-one was more left than me economically, which is a slight consolation. Or was it the other way round? The first axis, anyway, I was rabidly left-wing for that. And then they ambushed me by telling me I was like the BNP! Me! The wibblingliest Grauniad reader who ever wibbled!

Same thing for me! Super lefty on the first one, though they said I should vote Green (I *should* vote Scottish Socialist Party... why don't they have a English equivalent that isn't the SWP?) and then they got all BNP on my ass in the second bit! Though they said I was 'slightly left of centre' so I really don't know how that works itself out... I am on the fence about GM foods too (the science fiction fan and former wannabe-geneticist in me is eternally engaged in a tussle with the vegan hippie) and I only 'agreed' rather than 'strongly agreeing' about preferring France/Germany to the US. Eh.

I'm very glad that I'm not the only one with a sooper-sekrit-even-to-me right wing agenda! Perhaps it's that the BNP think that the government should provide better for them, once the 'undesirables' are out of the country.

I admit, I'm only posting a reply now because I forgot to use the deeply appropriate icon for the last comment. :)

I got fairly left on the first one, and centre on the second. Which was pretty much what I expected. Hurrah! They can't scare me with their BNP accusations!

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. You know, that probably means you're to the right of the BNP, if they match up to left-of-centre voters...

I think that the quiz is fundamentally flawed.

[identity profile] alicamel.livejournal.com 2005-04-15 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Percentages:
BNP 35.9% 52.2% 11.9%

(Labour voters are most like my in the second bit.)

It seems to be saying BNP voters are very 'right' on the first axis (immigration/crime/europe) but tend to be more centerist on the economy/trade etc? I can vaguely belive that, but I don't know what the position of the BNP is on any of those issues.

I need a politics icon.

OMG *DEFRIENDS*

Haha, that's madness. I'd be quite offended if I got that. What quiz type thing was that on?

There's a link in the post - it's interesting, and not too long to complete.

Tsk, tsk, you must have been doing something wrong! I said I was slightly left of centre and inclined to the Liberal Democrats, and that's exactly how I came out!

(You are sure you haven't got a secondary personality that sneaked out and clicked the mouse for you, aren't you?)
