It's probably a more useful word.

Today in French we were going over new vocabulary in the piece we'd just read, and the teacher was describing a word as "one who has to do with children, and interests themselves in them" and then when she said "yes, nursery nurse" to someone she queried my look of complete bafflement, which was because I'd slightly misunderstood something she'd said and completely thought she was describing a paedophile.

In fairness to me, we were reading about abused children, but even so I think perhaps that was not the impression I wanted to create. Although maybe now she'll remember my name after three weeks of calling me Carla.

Oh, that is quite embarrassing. Slightly brilliant but still embarrassing. I can totally see myself assuming paedophile from that description. So there.

It seemed to make sense! Not, admittedly, when you got to the part about them feeding the children so much, but in general I think I was just thinking outside the box.

I feel that people were judging me for the remark. Not perhaps for thinking it, but certainly for mentioning it. They are fools, and I judge them for being good at French.

haha. It probably IS a more useful word. Which is really sad, come to think of it.

Oh no, I meant Nursery Nurse was, because one of my housemates is, and my sister works in Early Years. Thankfully!

I would definitely have thought that too. You are not alone.

I wish you'd been there. Everyone else was entirely unimaginative.
