Musings on the poll

I technically really like GraphJam, but in practice what happens is that I get quietly infuriated by the graphs which are clearly using an inappropriate format, or haven't labelled their axes, or are just WRONGLY DIVIDED, and have to go somewhere else for a while.

I won my boots. Yay?

Thank you all very much for your answers to yesterday's poll. I am clearly in the minority when it comes to the knowledge of my menstrual cycle (or rather, one's menstrual cycle, as I am quietly confident that I am, despite my lack of tracking, still top expert on my specific menstrual cycle), though I am beginning to suspect that if I started to pay attention to my body it would become a lot clearer. I don't think I am in sync with my housemates either, which is possibly odd, or maybe that whole thing's a myth.

I no longer recall the specifics that led up to my long-ago argument about auto-nipple-licking, but during the argument I was adamantly asserting that most women couldn't lick their own nipple, so apparently I was wrong, as my flist can overwhelmingly lick their own nipples. (Unless everyone who wasn't about to try cannot in fact do so, and then it is equal - perhaps the refusal to attempt it is in fact a subconsious bodily sulk.) Though small-breasted women are less likely to be able to do so. I seem to vaguely remember that it was during a debate about whether or not porn was realistic, so I still had moral right on my side. Possibly this explains why I argued the negative, despite in fact being able to lick my own nipple. I do feel though that I should have incorporated more variables into the question, such as flexibility of neck, protuberance of nipples, length of tongue, motility of breast, etc.

Of the 27 answers I received to the plea for how to make myself do work, 8 simply said that if I found out, to disseminate that knowledge forthwith. Sadly, I do not know, though I very much like the answer "Why would you want to? You deserve a rest", which is comforting, if factually incorrect.

I was, onestercreep, doing work this afternoon, but I was working from an e-book and now the library portal is down for maintainance, so I am thwarted. Clearly I can't instead read one of the many physical tomes right in front of me, or write up my notes, or play around with EndNote instead. That would be madness.

I am not in sync with my housemates either, as far as I can gather, but then maybe they are the regular ones and I am just wonky. I tried to count the days of my cycle but I hadn't kept last year's calendar so can't really see much of a pattern from 41 and 32 days. Other than I am freakish. Very interesting poll though.

I have no idea, really, but I was reading something about it today and wondered. I think most women are "freakish", so that we're all not.

Yay indeed and thanks to you I started looking at boots on eBay and have just won a pair of hiking boots. Hope they fit!
I need a shoe icon.

Good buy! I am getting increasingly infuriated with ebay's searching though. I cannot seem to search eg Brent-Dyer in books without it insisting on only showing me children's books, and I can't work out how to make it do exactly what I want. Why must websites change to thwart me?

ebay searching

How weird, I just tried that myself using 'all categories' and it's true. I get as irritated as you do by the way they're constantly messing about with the site. Pah!

My housemates and I synchronised (to within about a week of each other?), and my mum and my sister and I synchronise if we're all at home for any length of time.

Yay boots! Will there be photos when they arrive? ;)

My menstrual cycle is extremely suggestible. If I'm living or travelling with another woman, it's been known to shift by as much as five days at a time to get in synch. As for nipple-licking, do you mean *without* using the hand as an aid to manoeuvre the breast into an accessible position? I have to lift mine with my hand and stretch my tongue down a long way to do it.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, with hand-help! My tongue barely reaches the top of my breasts if I don't yoink it up!

I think that you are totally still justified in your nipple-licking argument. Because presumably porn portays Ladies Licking Their Nipples as Fun and Erotic. Whereas it is in fact Awkward and Difficult. So there!

I argued the negative, despite in fact being able to lick my own nipple

CONSTANTLY thinking you have brilliant skills that no one else has, Clare! YOU AREN'T SPECIAL!

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I AM SPECIAL I AM.

That was pretty much precisely my thinking! I don't know if it would be erotic if it weren't for the neckache, but as it happens it's not.
