Poll, freshers.

[Poll #1463738]

I'm not teaching this year, and now the freshers are here I'm rather sorry. I was sitting outside the new "Learning Zone" next to a girl who was leaving a phone message for her friend: "Uh, sorry about last night, I'm fine, really I am - I met some of my flatmates, and I'm going out tonight, and it was just a bit much, but I'm fine, it's okay. Um, I hope your lectures are going okay, um, it's fine, bye", which made me feel rather tragic. I hope it is okay for her, I'm sure it will be.

Obviously I meant "It can be nice". I think we can take it as read that I can be nice.

I was confused because I am morally certain that peeeeeet is nice EVEN if from a tin.

I don't normally find blowing my nose satisfactory BUT it was when I had that sinus infection last christmas. I would blow my nose and first the normal snot would come out. But then I kept going and this insane neon yellow stuff would come out from deep deep within my head. I could actually feel it travelling out of my sinuses (sini?). It was SO bright and there was so much of it. I was almost sad when it stopped appearing.

I had a little bit of bright green snot earlier, but it is mostly clear and dull. I am considering drilling through my skull to see if that will release the pressure on my sinuses. This is not fun. And my non-non-drowsy nighttime flu and cold pills aren't sending me to sleep anymore. :(

Sudafed is the stuff you want. It's amazing.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall get some tomorrow morning. I wish I'd said earlier, then I could have taken your advice for tonight!

[identity profile] whatho.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree re sudafed. Antibiotics can do wonders for sinuses if you can get them, though it might've cleared up by the time you get 'em anyway if it's all tied up with a cold.

I am hoping that the moaning about it will be enough to clear it up nicely without needing to go begging for antibiotics. I'm going to London on Friday, I want to be better by then.

I wasn't going to admit to watching Mock the Week but it's on the telly right now so that felt slightly egregious as far as fibs go. David Mitchell's there. Also Sandi Toksvig. They made me. Leave me alone.

Halfway through my rowing I take a break for the drinking of water and I briefly lie back on the thin steel frame of the machine itself. When I do that I can feel three vertebrae clicking back into place. It's my favourite thing about rowing.

I decided this series that I was only going to watch MTW when it had guests I like on it, and David Mitchell kept popping up to make me watch those too.

Back clicking is pretty much my favourite. It feels almost like I've done something energetic.

I picked up my bike from the shop where they'd been servicing it, and I don't think they fixed the gears properly, and I am getting stressed about having to do something about that.

[identity profile] whatho.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really understand gears, but probably if a bike feels not quite right it's a thing you ought to go back and complain about. I don't like going back and complaining so I hope it magically mends itself instead.

My back only clicks once a day. Probably that makes it specialler, but I quite fancy a back click right now.

It's supposed to have fifteen, but I think it's not using the top five at all. And I told them this when i took it in and they said they'd fix it. Also I don't think I can adjust my own seat and handlebars and I feel like I shouldn't be allowed a bike because of it.

My knees and neck click an awful lot, but my back only rarely.

I always want to write "swop" but I'm informed it's "swap".

I love picking scabs. And stripping the dead skin off my heels. Though sometimes I go too deep, and make sore bits.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I go for swap, normally. I think AF writes swop, and it also counts in Scramble.

I forgot about stripping out dead skin! That's also great, when it comes away in one thick peel.

I am giggling at some of the answers. Excellent way to start the day.

I like the chain of "you're not missing much" "you're missing out!" "I don't think you're missing anything" in the rice pudding box.

[identity profile] cellardor.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! That tickled me.
