No, but really.

Who puts SWEETCORN in LASAGNE???

[identity profile] hunningham.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
My mum used to put grated carrots in spaghetti bolognese. But that was in the 70's, and we all know better nowadays.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no objection to carrots generally, but I think that grated into spaghetti bolognese I might take exception.

I take exception to sweetcorn constantly, but I thought that I would be safe with lasagne. Now that's breached, is there any haven for me?

The same sort of people who think, "Sweet corn and... pizza! Brilliant!"

I hate them.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
THEY ARE DREADFUL PEOPLE.

[identity profile] zoje-george.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
THEY ARE WRONG IN THE HEAD.

[identity profile] majea.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Those people were the BANE of my veggie-pizza-loving existence while I lived in UK. What kind of deranged mind forgoes olives but decides that freaking sweetcorn is just what a pizza needs?

[identity profile] cellardor.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)

I wonder the same for those who think tuna and sweetcorn are perfect in sandwiches. How about no? Leave the sweetcorn to...something else. Or in its tin. Blech.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I venture to state that sweetcorn adds NOTHING to anything, yet its presence detracts immensely.

[identity profile] cangetmad.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
I venture to second that. In fact, I'd venture to shout that from a nearby rooftop. And me really very afraid of heights.

Hallelujah! I am not the only person in the world who detests sweetcorn! I third the proposition.

[identity profile] majea.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Only exception I've found: mixed in a batter, fried up and served with maple syrup as corn fritters.

That is the ONLY acceptable use for sweetcorn. And I think I know what I'm having for lunch today.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
But itwould be just as nice just fried batter and maple surup! I wish i knw that i was having that to eat.

LUNATICS. LUNATICS AND FOOLS.

People who are WRONG, that's who. Blech.

WRONG and not deserving of the cheesy wonder that is lasagna.

I...might? I mean I haven't obviously, because it's ridiculous, but I can totally see a situation where I think hmm, sweetcorn...lasagne...I like both those things, clearly I should MIX THEM like some sort of KITCHEN GENIUS.

[identity profile] whatho.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
I SUPPORT THE DETRACTOR. I do agree that sweetcorn in lasagne is fairly ridic and not a thing one should expect to encounter, but I don't think sweetcorn is the root of all evil.

[identity profile] publicansdecoy.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeuch. But then I can't abide sweetcorn in anything really. It's too squeaky!

I bravely munched my way through but I would nott care to epeat the experience.

[identity profile] antisoppist.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
I do when it's vegetarian lasagne because you've got to fill the space up with something.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose I can seee the necessity there. This is why I avoid vegetarian options generally.

Frankly, I think sweetcorn and lasagne probably deserve each other.

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Lasagne is not my favourite dish or anything, vbut it is CERTANLY better than sweetcorn. Exponentially.

Any food you can't see inside before you start eating it is SUSPECT. I bet some people put sweetcorn in shepherds pie too... OH THE HORROR!!
