Stripey bathroom

I have painted my bathroom! I am very impressed with myself. Jess may be amused to note that I got the clean lines by using tips from Apartment Therapy. Look how straight it all is! I bought a spirit level and apparently I know how to use it.

I have also painted my bookroom and put my books in it, but I can't get a good picture of the colour, which is teal. Today I rearranged my living room and thus changed the view I have when I lie on my sofa and knit/use my laptop/watch TV. A change is as good as a rest. A change AND a rest is even better.

THAT BATHROOM IS AMAZING. Also you did actual physical painting, which is impressive.

YES I AM AWESOME. So is Alice, who helped me pick out the colours and then start off the painting. It was good painting to do, because it was only relatively small bits of stripe, so by the time I got bored of painting I got to open a new colour.

Heh, that was my first thought, too!!!

Well, second, after "AWESOME!!!!!"

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2012-03-26 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
I covered it with clingfilm and then just poked the brush behind it as far as it would go. It's not actually entirely painted behind, but enough to look okay!

I covered it with clingfilm and then just poked the brush behind it as far as it would go. From certain angles you can still see a bit of magnolia, but I just make sure not to stand at those angles.

That is brilliant! And not in the slightest bit magnolia. Jolly well done you!

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2012-03-26 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
Now I just have to work out colours to hide the rest of the magnolia throughout the entire flat.

Wow, so cool! Excellent. How does it feel from within the bathroom?

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2012-03-26 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
Great. There's only that bit of wall that's painted, and everything else is white tile or white paint to the ceiling, so it doesn't feel overpowering. It makes the bathroom look a little narrow, but given that it's a narrow bathroom, that was going to happen anyway!

HELL YES.

That is one awesome colour scheme, and the lines! The beautiful straight lines!

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2012-03-26 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
So straight! So liney!

[identity profile] whatho.livejournal.com 2012-03-26 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
That's brilliant! It's the stripiest bathroom I've ever seen.

Thank you! When I was choosing the colours the B&Q woman assumed it was for a child's bedroom at first. NO. MINE!

The chromaphile's dream bathroom! What's the inside Apartment Therapy tip on getting them lines so straight??

[identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com 2012-03-27 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
First of all frogtape, which is noticeably better than masking tape for keeping the paint out. Second, paint a quick stripe of the UNDERNEATH paint over the masking tape line, before painting the colour your want on the stripe. It seals the masking tape to the wall and any bits that find their way underneat will be the right colour. I am not making much sense, I think.

OMFG, that is the most awesome decorating job I have ever seen. Jealous jealous.
