Malaria??? Oh my.

My dad had it many times as a small child in Nigeria, but doesn't really remember. Maybe it is just as well.

Please shout if there is anything at all that we can do?

Having it as a child must be horrid, it wipes you out so much.

I have managed to taste things now, and 7up is helping with the taste.

Bah, that sounds entirely rubbish - at least it could have the grace to let you sleep through the miserable symptoms.

It is truly rubbish. Finally managed a bit of sleep this afternoon, as my line manager lent me his flat with a/c for the day and that helped.

Aaargh! How perfectly dreadful. Hopefully malaria meds will work with gin and tonic,

The vomiting got so bad I ended up back in the clinic on a rehydration drip and anti-emetic, but they gave me an intravenous antibiotic which seems to helped immensely already.

How yucky. But at least you have an exotic sounding illness? Feel better soon!

I have been trying to console myself by pretending to be in Little House on the Prairie when the Ingallses get malaria. Feel better already, thank you.

I am yes, men have been cooking for me and worrying about me which is very pleasing.

I am just thinking of all the anecdotes you'll be able to airily weave that into in the future: "oh I had malaria at the time". Get well soon, though. It sounds truly horrible.

Plans change, Mnn. Plans change, and you get plenty of time collapsed on the bathroom tiles vomiting copiously to consider what a mistake that was.

Oh no Clare! Hope you feel better soon. If it makes you feel any better now, I'm currently having a period that means I have to keep playing the 'is this feeling hunger or nausea?' game. That's not quite as glam as vomiting. But still.

Ugh, that's never a fun game. My vomiting is sadly not glam at all, and isn't even satisfying once its done, which is most unfair.

BOOO MALARIA IS RUBBISH. I hope you are feeling better now!

I am, much better. It turned out I had malaria and a bacterial infection and dehydration, so although I'd started to feel a bit better on Monday after the first tablets, the vomiting got severely worse and I spent Sunday at the clinic on a drip for rehydration getting intravenous antibiotics. So that was exciting. Yesterday was already improved and I didn't vomit at all last night!!! Kept a whole pot of yoghurt down!

Though I did spent the time not vomiting with a very convincing physical sensation that my teeth were crumbling in my very mouth and having to check constantly on them with my tongue. Still not sure they're all there.

Bah, this sounds not at all fun, hope you're on the mend now.
