Cairo, land of dreams.
I saw this while walking back from the book group I was really excited about going to, which turns out to be TOMORROW, so I had the dreadful experience of showing up a day early, cupcakes in hand, to be met by the friend of my host asking if I was expected, because my host was in bed, and had indeed said that the book group was tomorrow. So I left, after gawping a bit on the doorstep while being patronised about what a shame it was because I had been so nice to bring cupcakes, and thought determinedly positive thoughts about how only a few years ago this would have been horrendous and throw me off kilter, and now I am such a together person that it is a mere blip, and I am almost certainly going to show up again tomorrow and weather the conversation about what a shame it was etc etc. ARGH. So I bought myself gingerbread gelato in a red velvet cone. (A cone dyed red. Nothing else to it.)
I was REALLY looking forward to the book group. We read a great book (Beer in the Snooker Club), it's almost my first opportunity to meet people socially outside work, and I feel pretty grumpy and stupid about it all. Instead though I'm going to meet up with two of my favourite work people (if they ever text me to say where to meet) and then have a hair cut.
