Book sale disappointment

75 points on one go! 'Hilly' and 'vary' converging at the Y, placed on a triple word score. Mmm-hmmm.

Book sale very disappointing, and didn't buy anything. I nearly bought a book on Prostitution in the 1990s, but then I flipped through the section about feminism and, to paraphrase,

- there are some definitions of feminism that are reasonable, but these are far too broad, so I'm only going to concentrate on the BATSHIT CRAZY FEMINIAZIS WHO ARE OUT TO TAKE MY JOB, MY WOMEN AND MY BALLS. They can't even agree on a definition amongst themselves, so they're clearly worthless.

I also saw something called The Bitch Book but it turned out to be something to do with breeding. Huh.

Would you like a spare copy of a book I now have 2 copies of and am not sure I'm ever going to read - on the grounds that every time I flip it open I find a passage that makes me go 'aaaargh' and fall twitching on the ground, to the consternation of my colleagues - Nils Ringdal, Love for Sale: A Global History of Prostitution (since time immemorial, as well)? (And have you ever seen Ronald Hyam's Empire and Sexuality in which he does the Oxford upper-crust version of 'Evil Feminazis' taking over the discipline and then rips off large chunks of Walkowitz et al without attribution - well, he does footnote, but as he misspells her name throughout...)

That would be great, if you don't mind!

I haven't seen Empire and Sexuality, although it sounds like it's one to watch out for. If it had been cheaper, I mught have bought Prostitution in the 1990s just so that I could quote the paranoia and distain with greater accuracy.

Don't seem to have your Manchester address - email it and I'll put the book in the post.

Dog breeding or human breeding?

Dog breeding, sadly. If it was human breeding I would so have bought it, and possibly given it to my friend as a wedding present.

Sorry, got pulled into a meeting. Am back on the e-Scrabble case now. (Although it may take me all week to finish! Don't get bored with me, 'cos I'm loving the game. Today's G's birthday, though, so I'll not be able to play from home tonight.)

S'okay - games are good when they're drawn out, I think. I'm leaving shortly, so I'll have to continue this tomorrow. May spend all evening swotting up on two letter words!

Have just played! So you've got all night to think up a new one.
