Happy LJ Birthday to Me!
May. 5th, 2005 08:43 amToday is my one year livejournal anniversary. Hello lovely livejournal people!
This time last year I didn't know any of you, and I find that really difficult to imagine. Today I'm going down to London with
jekesta to meet a whole bunch of people including
alicamel,
calapine,
jendleberry,
nerdcakes and
paranoidkitten. I'm incredibly excited about this. Really, really, excited! I have met a number of lj people, and they are universally lovely. I hope to meet many more of you.
This time last year I was working in a very dull temp job, living in Peterborough and hopelessly applying for jobs that kept turning me down. I was depressed about living at home again, and not having any friends nearby. And now I'm nearly at the end of the contract for the job I needed to get, living happily in Manchester and seeing people I like pretty regularly (waves at
megolas), planning my move up to Lancaster to start my PhD.
Also, this is my 555th entry, and the date is 05/05/05. I debated getting up at 5.55am to post the entry, but
jekesta will be on my floor and it seemed a little mean. And at 5.55pm I will be with livejournal people in a hotel, the day before my first ever convention starts! Oh, and something I never said before, and even saying it will ruin it, but in my lj stats, I said the following words exactly five times each - beef, chicken, lamb, cooking, Mmmmm (with 5 ms!), fork, domestic, cooking, sandwiches, juice, gingerbread, pasta and cafe. In fact, almost all the food related words I've ever used. I thought that was pretty cool. My most used word ever is "actually", at 218 time in 555 posts, followed by "nice" at 193. So my journal is generally me flinging myself around the internet bewailing my fate, only to stop and recant, saying "actually, it was quite nice". Which is, actually, often true.
jekesta says that in a one year post you should say "EEEEEEEEEeeee"! And she is right, you should. I also want to say thank you to all of you - quite apart from enjoying writing, I value livejournal as a place where I get to read interesting entries by wondeferful people, and yay all of you.
I'm off to get the train to London.
