Jun. 10th, 2013 12:03 pmAccording to this test: here, I have a slight bias towards associating jobs with female and family with male. Good. Though I saw someone saying that the test actually tests priming (if everyone is told to associate male and job first) rather than gender bias. I did think it was interesting which words were chosen - children and wedding I both kept thinking of as jobs rather than family anyway - wedding planner and teacher/nursery worker. Workplace was very job, but people also work from home, which was a family word. I am sure there is proper research behind the words anyway.
I seem to have lost quite a lot of my voice - I haven't really tested it as my officemate isn't in, so I haven't had to speak to anyone this morning. (I am hoping to keep this up for the entire day.) Speaking out loud suggests a marked huskiness with occasional disappearance of all sound, which normally wouldn't matter greatly, but tomorrow is my French exam with oral section. I am torn between hoping it gets better and hoping it gets worse so that my mistakes in pronunciation might be less noticeable and I'll get pity marks for trying. Though I suspect that the French version of education does not include pity marks.
I am off to Amsterdam for a long weekend in a few weeks. Does anyone have any recommendations of what to do/see, or conversely what to avoid? Eating recommendations especially welcome. I think I will probably do some wandering, and I'd like to go to Anne Frank's house (I hope they're displaying the Bieber comment very prominently). I thin I'm staying near the Vondelpark.
