Not just any dinner, but fancy dauphinoise potatoes that needed some sort of vegetable slicing gadget that meant Ant was PRACTISING beforehand. He must have really wanted to impress him.
This pleases me less. I am only vaguely aware of the context of the campus visits in the US. However, whatever the context, the line "We faculty women strongly believe that none of our currently untenured male colleagues or current male graduate students has engaged in sexual misconduct" is a pretty large claim to make. If "we faculty women" had written that they were not aware of any such misconduct, that would be one thing, but this is effectively a pre-emptive disbelief of anyone who might have been sexually harassed or assaulted by one of the men in question.
