Yes, and there is a complete elision between "he gets the impression that something sexual may happen", and "you have a responsibility for whatever he may or may not assume". I don't even think that it is wrong to assume that accepting an invitation to dinner might mean someone is sexually interested. I do think that it is wrong to think that if your assumptions turn out to be unfounded, then this is somehow underhanded of the OTHER person.

You are a horrible friend to men, yes. You should concentrate on spending time with your female friends so that they can help you find a man who will eventually propose to you and then you can have a huge rock on your finger and people will understand that you are TAKEN.
