"When we were growing up we were very close and we had a wonderful closeness that I miss now. I don't get to see that so much with families or even in my romances. There's a closeness that you feel because you see each other throughout your whole life. There's a certain safety in that closeness."

Michael DeLuise, explaining how no other relationship could live up to his brothers. Heartbreaking. But wonderful. But mostly heartbreaking, given that his brothers went off and had children and got married. Elsewhere on the internet there is a brief argument where someone was driven to declare that "Michael DeLuise is not the least bit gay. He was engaged. Gay men don't get engaged to beautiful women." I love the person who posted that. Even if they did preface it with "If you're going to make up a rumor about a celebrity, at least do it about one people care about." Uh, HELLO?

(I am watching Fist of Fun which I eventually convinced my sister to give me after missing several celebratory opportunities, by refusing to admit to wanting anything else in my life at all. Which is very nearly true. Beatiful as ever, Stewart Lee.)

I LOVE THAT YOU CAN SEE STEWART LEE'S EARRING MORE CLEARLY THAN EVER.

Also, you laugh but that's a true fact about gay men never marrying beautiful women. There is no documented evidence of that ever having happened.

It's not even that the poster thinks gay men don't marry beautiful women, but CERTAINLY no-one who is not incredibly robustly exclusively heterosexual has ever thought to be engaged. What purpose would it serve?

I am very much looking forward to the commentaries. But I can't be bothered to pause for all the text that comes up. I save that for Adam and Joe.

I CANNOT ACTUALLY REMEMBER much about the commentaries except that at one point they went, "oh, we filmed that bit in Ealing." I did not recognise Ealing.

I was on the phone with Cathy earlier tonight and she kept talking about a place in Liverpool called 'the gallery' and getting annoyed when I pronounced it 'the galle-ree'.

THERE IS SIMPLY NO EXPLANTION.

Conclusion: definitely not gay.

Aw, they are talking about Rod Hull and Stewart Lee is being surprised that it started that far back. Also the naked photo.

I did pause for the naked photo. Purely because of science.

... this comment seems to suggest that Fist of Fun is now actually available on actual DVDs rather than 'those almost unwatchable DVD transfers I got off eBay in frustration at the refusal of the BBC to TAKE MY MONEY IN RETURN FOR GOODS'. Can this be true???

Yes! From Go Faster Stripe. It is ace, there are commentaries and rushes and everything. The first series sold well enough that they're doing the second as well.
