I am missing my phone, so I am looking for another one, possibly as an early Christmas present from my parents. I really liked my San Francisco II (which I think was a rebadged ZTE crescent). It cost about £100, if I remember correctly, and I wouldn't want to spend much more than that, which gives me a pleasingly small amount of choice. It's still a larger amount of choice than I've had before, so I'd quite like some help. Any recommendations for phones that:

  • Cost less than £130 for pay as you go (I'm on Orange)
  • Use android
  • Are not too large, the San Francisco II was only about 59mm across and that was a very good size for my hands and my pockets

I use my phone for wifi access (3G only in emergencies), taking photos, mostly of my books as reminders so it doesn't need to be tooooo swanky a camera, the Kindle app, sometimes watching videos, which was the one area where my previous phone fell down as it quite often stuttered too much to watch some files.

So far the Orange phone shop (where I can spend my £9.50 phone fund before the end of November!) is showing me a Sony Experia E, a Samsung Galaxy Young Blue (???? that seems a silly name) (oh hang on blue is the colour, not really the name), and a Samsung Galaxy Fame. I shall look for reviews, but I'd prefer personal recommendations.

I finished Orange is the New Black, which I keep calling orange is not the only black. I love Piper. I love that she's pathetic and needy and narcissistic and self-absorbed. I hate her fiance. I can't believe he watched Mad Men without her, that's way shittier than having an affair with an ex-girlfriend in prison. I am worried that I'd get put in a prison with low walls like they have, it seems a dreadful idea.

I'm trying to stay up until Downton Abbey comes online and watch it before I go to bed.

I have a Samsung phone and I quite like it although I suspect I don't use it as much as it could be used. I think they work quite well for people who use PCs and like having a 2 buttoned mouse (me) - the iPhone really irritates me and very much reminds me of using an Apple computer (which also irritates me).

That is me! I use PCs and do not enjoy Apple. I am currently looking at the Galaxy S III Mini, which seems quite good without being massive.

I have the SIII which is massive for my small hands (although s4 even bigger) and I was very excited they brought out a mini version. I don't remember it being available when I got this one but that was 18 months ago and 18 months is a long time in phone development.

I have no phone recs. I have the SanFran2 also and my only problems are (1) it is too smooth and I drop it a lot and (2) the internal RAM is tiny and lots of apps won't install onto the SD card. Do the Orange shop not sell it any more? I would buy it again if it was only £40 like about a year ago when I bought it.

OH MY GOD I LOVE PIPER. I LOVE how she copes with prison in the most middle-class way possible. "I know, I will make my mortal enemy back lotion from random ingredients and my own spit". I love everything about Orange I need MORE EPISODES. It is very hard not to call it OantOB and I NEED MORE POUSSEY AND TAYSTEE AND EVERYONE. I hope Alex isn't not in it at all, I love her eyebrows and her glasses. I would hate her in real life because she would mumble on the phone and I would have to ask her to repeat everything she said three times and that is like the worst thing. But I am happy for her to be fictional and kiss girls.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note and I love it. It is bigger and more expensive than you are looking for (I tell myself it saved me buying a phone and a tablet and an e-reader) but if you want another vote for Samsung...

Another vote for Samsung is useful!

The Orange shop don't sell the SanFran2 any more at all, not even for £40. It was £100 when I bought it. I looked at ebay, but I thought it I were prepared to spend money I should use the opportunity to get the best kind of phone I could. Though maybe then it will just hurt more when I inevitably lose or destroy it.

She is sooooooo great. By great I mean rubbish, but wonderfully so. When are they giving us more episodes? There must be more!

That's my phone and I like it very much. It has enough memory for everything I want to do and the camera is pretty good.

I went and had a play with the handset in Carphone Warehouse, it feels like a good size for my hand.
