e-scrabble is gone now. It was briefly active earlier today (just long enough for me to note that [livejournal.com profile] blue_monday had played...was it "quaish"? something q-ish, on a triple word score, for 60 points. 60.) and now no more. I am distressed.

When I got to work this morning the route to our door was cordoned off, but with no reason why, and no sign of anyone around. So I ducked under the tape, and was promptly shouted at by builders looming out of a window halfway up the building. After learning that I was going to work, they told me to go round. I explained that there is no round, only the door. So they let me in, and proceeded to have the same conversation with every single person coming to the unit this morning.

No-one was impaled on an ice-skate. But there were falls! Two near-wipeouts saved only by putting hands down, one finger touching the ice, one man who fell over but managed to make it look like a part of the fight scene, and then at the very end, one woman fell over completely, and worst of all it was in her mini-solo showing-off bit. I felt so bad for her. The bad fairy was kind of good, even if she did only have one facial expression (grimace) with occasional variations into gleeful grimace, grimace of hatred and oh-look-I'm-dying grimace. She was my favourite actually, she was dressed in a black catsuit, with tattered wings, and did lots of straddling her lackeys and being carried about. At one point she was doing gymnastics on some bars they held up while they all skated merrily about. They did a lot of stunt stuff - there was a jester type person who did lots of cartwheels and strange jumps. And the good fairy did point work in the middle of the ice, and there was one skater in the corps who was skating on some sort of stilts. The blades were at least a foot below her feet, and she didn't fall. People clapped her very loudly, in relief more than anything. Apart from that, the bits that got the most claps were when the prince held a woman above his head with one hand while twirling around. Which is all right, but I'd have been more impressed if he'd taken the other hand away as well.

I enjoyed it a lot, but don't really feel the need to go to another show. Unless it was maybe Lord of the Rings on Ice, but they might have a problem with the volcano. Rebecca and I decided that you could do just about anything On Ice, except maybe Lawrence of Arabia. But possibly the highlight of the entire evening was in the interval when the woman behind us stood up and as she turned to leave, farted right at our heads. Yep. Fortunately, it was more loud than stinky, but still.

My computer successfully downloaded episodes two and three of Lost while I was out yesterday, but now it seems to be suffering. It's not that it crashes, exactly, but it restarted itself repeatedly until I managed to shut it down in between. I haven't checked to see what the problem is yet, but I'll run the spyware stuff when I get home. I'm heading back to Peterborough tonight, for Easter. I'm going back a day early because I have a dentist appointment (I haven't bothered trying to find an NHS dentist here, for the obvious reasons - not knowing if I'll be here that long, the impossibility of finding an NHS dentist with space). I'm going to have to go shopping to buy my sister a birthday present. It's actually her birthday today - 22 - but I'm seeing her for presents etc on Friday, so I've got a few days grace. She sent me a text saying that the children in her class (she's doing teacher training for Primary, I think she's teaching Year 4 at the moment) sang her happy birthday this morning. Awwwwww. Still makes me want to steer clear of teaching, though.

Meh; it was up a few minutes ago, and I'd just finished frantically making moves. Needn't have bothered, evidently.

It's not up for me - I just get a "site closed" message whatever I try.

In case you ever need one in Manchester, there's a dentist who I presume is NHS (he took on and treated my housemates last year and we're poor students) at 98 Mauldeth Rd West, which is Withington and easy to get to on the bus. :-)

Thanks for the tip!

In my dream last night you were sitting down in front of me, and you had seven fingers on your right hand. Well, six fingers and a thumb. I was fascinated.

Nope, still four and a thumb! What a peculiar subconscious you have... :-)

HA HA HA! This entry made me laugh, a lot. "There is no round!"

Also, I think you should submit your review of Sleeping Beauty On Ice to the paper.

Well there isn't! They eventually gave up, removed the tape and stuck up signs saying to be careful.

I don't think they're quite ready for my unique talents yet.

::mourns e-scrabble::

::zaps builders::

::likes how without the cut tag this post goes makes your entering work somehow lead to the statement that nobody was impaled with an iceskate, although some people did fall. Your Work On Ice yay:)::

::feels sad for the girl who fell in her solo::

::hopes your computer mends itself well::

::will happily post Lost to you on cd if you wish as I seem to have made two copies of it without noticing::

Have fun in Peterborough apart from the dentist bit where I simply wish you luck, although have fun if it can be found of course yes.

If there was more ice skating at work I'd be much more enthusiastic about the whole process. I am seriously wanting to go ice skating now, and I need my friend Chy to come up so that we can ponce around the rink pretending to be princesses. Although I might dress in black and pretend to be the wicked fairy. I just need some men to wrap my thighs around to stay in character.

I have managed to download episodes 1-3 now, but if your cd has episodes other than those it would be most welcome.

It seems to be mended in that it doesn't shut itself down, but on the train coming back I realised that the battery is completely knackered. It doesn't recognise that there is a battery when the cord's not connected. Grr. Still, I changed to a GNER train with plugs so I watched Lost 2 between Doncaster and Peterborough.

I can't believe I'd only just discovered it - two years it's been running, or something, and as soon as I start playing, gone.
