Oh, god, there was going to be a poll here saying "what shall I wear", but the answer is that I have nothing to wear, so there is no poll. Argh. I could leave work early and go shopping, but then I might potentially not find anything and be utterly dismayed.

I want to look matureish - I look quite young, and most people will be some years older than me. So I would rather look early/mid twenties than sixteen. I have large, red, spots all over my face which are not pleasing. I have so far managed to refrain from picking the scabs off, as I disgustingly usually do. I don't wear make-up often, but I might venture to poke at my eyes with mascara or something, and perhaps put lipstick on, wipe it off again, try a different gloss, wipe that off and try something else for that sought-after look of chapped lips with dark bits in the creases and a slightly bruised look.

I have a see-throughish shirt from H&M I might try, with a low-cut black top underneath, and perhaps a skirt and boots. Or something. Should I straighen my hair? It's all crap at the moment. I think I'd feel better with it straight. So I'd better leave work in the next half-hour so that I have enough time to get ready before I have to get to the hotel for 5ish. Argh.

This is honestly the cutest entry I've ever read.

Be careful poking your eyes with that mascara!

Why can't everyone just wear jeans and borderline-inappropriate t-shirts all the times? Whhhyyyyyyy? And trainers.

INDEED!

Thank Jeebus I work at a place where I can wear dirty jeans and ripped t-shirts every day.
Wheeee!

Ditto, I'm not sure how I'd cope with a dress code.

Oh, and I think the shirt/top/skirt/boots combo sounds fine - smart but a bit funky, like the Mature Young Professional you are!

Ahh, I so know this feeling.

I don't have much useful advice, but wish you lots of luck for this evening. Sending out successful vibes.

Thank you. It was when a taxi driver told me he thought I was too young to be out so late when I was 22 that I really hated.

putting your hair up tends to make you look older than keeping it down.

well, it does me, anyway (and i know the problem well!)

Not me - I can't put my hair up anyway, but putting it back makes me look about twelve.
