An anteater walks into a bar and says that he'd like a drink. "Okay," says the bartender. "How about a beer?" "Noooooooooo," replies the anteater. "Then how about a gin and tonic?" "Noooooooooo." "A martini?" "Noooooooooo." Finally, the bartender gets fed up and says, "Hey, listen buddy, if you don't mind me asking - why the long no's?"

A polar bear walks into a bar and orders a drink. "I'll have a vodka and ........................ orange, please". The barman says "sure, but if you don't mind me asking, why the big pause?" To which the bear replies: "dunno, they've always been this size".

I told this to JMAck just after I read it. He pretended to groan, but he thought it was funny. And then he stood, feigning stunned silence, but probably more annoyed at himself that he didn't see the punchline coming.

"You should be ashamed of yourself, Jane."

"You loved it!"

"No, loving a joke isn't what makes it compelling."

"Oh, sure. JMack's theory of jokes...You're going to tell it all day at work, aren't you?"

"Probably. But, but, but, I still don't love it."

"Liar."

It's a great joke! And he clearly loves it very much indeed.

::Is confused by the urge to say 'you want it? Nooooo!', otherwise would make sensible comment, yes::

A horse (or in some versions it's Celine Dion) walks into a bar and says glumly: "A pint of beer and a sandwich, please." Then it (she) just stands there looking sad. The bartender hands over the beer and sandwich and asks timidly: "Why the long face?"

Hee! I love jokes like this. It's probably a sign of a deeply flawed personality, but I don't care.
