I am trying to book flights to the US for after Christmas - London- Dallas, Chicago-Manchester (or London if it's a ridiculous request). I'm checking Travelocity, Expedia, STA and BA. Anywhere else I should be looking?

Thank you very much! I went with travelocity in the end, because I started to develop a conviction that by the time I'd checked everywhere the flights I wanted would be sold out. I had also tried the student travel agent on campus, but they offered me two non-direct flights for about £50 more than I eventually booked three direct flights (with no nasty early morning starts) for.

I am! But I can only make it tell me fares that are more than £700, so I think I must be doing something rather wrong.

I've had good experiences with Opodo (and Skyscanner, but with them only tried for straightforward there-and-back routes).

I had just found opodo, and then they tried to charge me £10 to use any card at all, so I have booked with travelocity who don't have a fee for debit cards. Hurrah! All booked.

That's them crossed off my list, then.

Virgin? I am awful and keep flying with them even when they are a bit uncheap because I want my free airmiles flight to the US, but my Chicago - London return flight last year was < £300 which was yayful. (Also I cannot tell the difference between a greater and less than sign, ahrrm.)

I like virgin to fly with too - but selfishly they do not fly to Dallas. I am going with American Airlines who I am certain I have heard dire things about but who also have direct flights to all the cities I want to be in without making me get up before 6am even once. It was £515 London-Dallas-Chicago-Manchester in the end, which for December/January is not all that bad.

I have heard ungood things about them too, woes (but that doesn't seem to stop them people using them, so..). But the important thing is they are cheap. Yes.

That is tots awesome price!

EEEEEEEEE!

Also, most domestic flights no longer offer much in the way of food, so it is generally wise to bring snacks, or a sandwich.
