Date: 2009-09-18 04:04 pm (UTC)Dozy woman behind the till: Does it need to be there for Monday or Tuesday?
Me: No, I shouldn't think so.
DWBTT: Well, you know, I can't guarantee when it *will* get there - because of the strikes -
Me: Oh, that's OK.
DWBTT: *something inaudible about strikes in Glasgow*
Me: So, first class please.
DWBTT: There are two million unsorted parcels, you know, because of the strikes. You could send it special delivery, that's five pounds sixty-nine, that's the only way you can be sure it'll be there for Monday. *pause* Or Tuesday.
Me: No, really, first class is fine.
DWBTT: Well, if you're sure that's OK... *sticks label on parcel and tosses it in bag, presumably to join the other two million*.
