1. In-ear bud headphones that do not break (have one ear intermittently cut out) within a year of me using them.

2. A slip thing to wear under dresses that is very low cut. Preferably something that actually starts under the bust. I don't want the lines of a skirt slip, but I don't want the slip to ride up above my neckline.

Any ideas?

Cheap earphones are very much a false economy. Spend a good amount on them £40 or more) and they should be OK. Plus, they won't leak sound so much, so you won't annoy other people. When I'm rich, I'll buy every commuter good quality earphones.

My ones before this were £40 and still broke within the year! I've never had earphones that lasted longer than about 18 months. Is there a particular brand you'd recommend?

I was trying to remember where I got mine from, because I'm really pleased with them. Judging by the logo on the back, they are Creative Labs, but I can't see the exact model on their website.

The girl across from me on the bus this morning is in need of good headphones. Or to turn her music down, since I could hear every word of 'Have a Nice Day' by the Stereophonics.

Words I don't mind so much, but the incoherent screeching or heavy bass I cannot abide. That's mostly why I listen to music at all, to drown it out.

I am a cheapo about earphones. Mine are some JVC jelly ones and despite me dropping them in the sink three times and cycling over them a couple of times, they still work.

My slips came from M&S, they are quite low cut and have adjustable straps. They work for me but I am unreasonably fond of M&S undies. I want some brightly coloured camisoles and slips, pinks and blues and greens. I cannot find any I like anywhere!

I would really like something like this, but a slip instead of a unitard thing. And not shapewear. I shall have a look at M&S.

I know I have led you astray with earphones before, but I am currently using a super-cheap pair of JVC jelly earbuds that I bought from Woolworths. THAT IS HOW OLD THEY ARE. And I wear headphones in BED and they're still working fine. THAT IS HOW STURDY THEY ARE. Also they are pink. This is important.

That is TWO for JVC jelly earbuds. Though I am not very keen on the solider earbuds, they seem worth a try. But where to get them now that Woolworths is gone???

I got mine from HMV. Mine are black, but they have pink, blue, green, orange, white and possibly purple.

Oh, and they appear to be called Gumy, not jelly. And they do come in violet.

I read that as soldier earbuds. Which I want.

I have the JVC jelly ones too and they work fabulously. Also wear mine in bed and also mine are pink.

I can't use in-ear headphones, but Steve has a pair of Bose ones that work well. He got them free with a phone a couple of years ago, but they seem to be selling for anything up to about £70 quid.

Sennheiser ones are usually pretty good too.

I can't use them either, because I am a delicate ear flower. Or something. Tom regularly mocks the tininess of my ears.

(I am actually using them at the moment, as headphones are too difficult to transport, but they huuuuurt! And fall out!)

Useless comment, sorry!

I use cheapo creatives and the teeny size of earbud for them works for me, I loathed the ipod ones because they hurt and fell out all the time. I have a pair of expensive ones on the way, but the creatives are quite good.

There's also the fact that I am kind of freaked out by the idea of having something in my ears at all. I put this down to family history: my mother managed to puncture both of her eardrums by scratching her ear with a knitting needle in separate incidents years apart.

sheesh, I can see how it would, my best mate has a fear of garden forks after her mum once managed to put one through her foot! They used to freak me out, but ones that fit don't go scarily far in for me, I used to have nightmares about poking things too far in and not getting them out! However ymmv.

I did once have to retrieve an earplug with some tweezers. But it was fine.

That happens to all my earphones too. Mine have just gone. Need new ones, so if you do find some awesome ones, let me know!

Er...this isn't at all helpful. Perhaps I shall read your other comments for inspiration.

I think I might just keep at it with buying cheapish ones and accepting that they will abandon me regularly.

Could you buy a super long skirt slip and just wear it under your boobs?

Good thought! I shall go and try some on in M&S. I could always sew my own straps on to make sure they stayed up.

This kind of thing? It is control wear but its the only one I've seen, unless you just get a longer waist slip slightly smaller than normal and wear it just below your bra.

From: [identity profile] slemslempike.livejournal.com
Oh, that is pretty much exactly what I want! I wasn't planning on control wear, but I could just get a larger size. I found one that was like that only a unitard, but I worried about weeing in it.

ok this made me giggle - yes I did indeed think, wait unitards make you wee uhmm. You could indeed.
