Missed advertising hooks: if you accidentally spray natural deodorant in your mouth it tastes much better than the chemically stuff.

Yesterday I accidentally put my mooncup in sideways. It sort of popped out before I was ready for it. When I tried to push it round it went the wrong way so it was upside down. And then I couldn't get it out, because in addition to being upside down it was also caught on my cervix.I was very very calm about this, but just when I was deciding very very calmly that I would probably have to go to casualty, I managed to unhook it. Sore cervix, but no doctors.

Ouch for the cervix but go you for remaining calm and not having to go to casualty. I am occasionally tempted to try out a mooncup, but I always chicken out and stay with my lunapads.

This is the only time I've been idiotic enough to do that in 5/6 years of having the mooncup. Generally it is pretty awesome.

No try it! They're awesome.

I've always found tampons exceedingly uncomfortable - they always ended up doubled over inside me. I have a retroverted uterus which may or may not have something to do with that. I've also not had children. So I'm generally not comfortable with the reality of internal menstrual products even though I know many people who love their mooncups. :-) Lunapads have worked well for me - they're much more comfortable than disposable pads.

I sometimes use cloth pads now, and they are amazingly more comfortable than disposables.

I was amazed by the difference even though they're bulkier.

I need to get some new ones - mine are wearing out a bit and fraying, but I think I've had them about four-five years, which means I've got plenty of use out of them.

I'm quite happy with tampons, but I've been thinking of trying Lunapads lately. It seems that the older I get, the more sensitive my skin gets everywhere. Not a great place to have irritated skin. But really, I just want to say I have pirates in my pants.

Also...ouch.

The pads are great. I got most of mine from etsy, and they are very cool. Pirates in your pants!

Fair enough. And if you don't have the straight length to fit it in, I imagine a Mooncup would be just as bad as a tampon. They are more comfortable generally, because they do fit what you are, as they're more space than object.

Mooncups are great, but they probably won't work for me, alas. I haven't ruled it out completely - I know they come in different sizes and recommend the smaller size for people who haven't had children.

Erk. ERK. How on earth? Now I'm going to be all paranoid that I'll manage to do that too.

I don't know! I sort of let go of it too early and must have hand my hand at a weird angle. I would not have thought it actually possible, but there it was. Still kind od scrunched up, but open enough to impede removal.

Ow! I've never managed to do that, though I have put mine in sideways before now. Much sympathy.

I sincerely hope I never do it again.

This is why nothing is going up mine unless it's attached to something which remains outside. Just sayin'. ;-P

I think the large amounts of enjoyment I have received from inserting the non-attached vastly outweighs one measly side-insertion.

I have to admit, there was a part where I thought "well, if it's not going to impede the flow, and it's recently sterilised, and I'm not having PIV sex, maybe I can just leave it there and not tell anyone?" Then it came out, and I thought I'd tell EVERYONE.

Eurrg!

When my periods re-started (11.5 months after giving birth), I started using a Lunette cup, thanks to all the recs on LJ. Pretty good, except that the little bit on the end you yank it out with sometimes gets into a position where it jabs as I move and OWowOW! Have now trimmed it, which seems to have helped.

Lucky you didn't end up going into Casualty... unless UK doctors are very much more cup-savvy than Australian ones (you can't even buy menstrual cups in Australia - I ordered mine viz NZ), I suspect they wouldn't have had a clue what it was.
