I still miss Alice and Jen, but GOOD GOD I love my unlimimited download speeds for one.

The wall where the condemned fire is keeps making weird noises.

I had a lovely lunch with [livejournal.com profile] cangetmad today.

My calves still hurt an awful lot.

I picked up and finished One Shot, which is where I am up to with Reacher. He is AWESOME. So cool you could skate on him. I hadn't quite got to the end when I got off the train, so I read it walking home, and he was so brilliant I didn't even notice the awful hill.

Tomorrow morning I need to clean bits of the cooker because a man is coming to clean it.

In the last year or so I have watched: all of Caroline in the City, all of Roseanne, and all of Cybill. I wish there were more woman-centred things like that now. With Roseanne I mostly came away newly impressed with John Goodman. I also watched all of Malcolm in the Middle, which it turned out I'd already seen nearly all of without really intending to, until the last series or so. Oh Francis.

Oddly enough, I do in fact know GUF too! I just haven't seen it all because only the first two series are currently available for download.

I can't remember if I've asked or not, but have you tried Murphy Brown?

Not yet! I have packed it fully intending to watch it when I have moved all my stuff up.

Aww, I loved Caroline in the City and Cybill. I remember watching Grace Under Fire and Murphy Brown as well. There were a lot of great female sitcoms in the 90s! A lot of them were older women as well. I spent a summer watching Suddenly Susan, which wasn't very good but Kathy Griffin was in it and she was brilliant.

Now, I'm a little bit addicted to Cougar Town and I watched some of Samantha Who? There's also that thing with Jenna Elfman being pregnant. I haven't seen any of it and it's terrible - I just like her because I really loved Dharma and Greg!

Good luck with the moving and well done on the hill-walking!

I like Cougar Town a lot, and I've seen some Samantha Who?, though that didn't really grab me.

Thank you!

Re. the condemned fire, if it's gas, have you got a carbon monoxide detector? I am just paranoid because the one person I know who suffered carbon monoxide poisoning had brain damage and is now unable to read books.

It's been disconnected, so I don't think it should be a problem, but we don't have a carbon monoxide detector. I'll be on the look-out. I think it's just drilling from next door.

I wish there were more woman-centred things. I don't know if it's my perspective but there do seem to be fewer of them. I re-watched a couple of episodes of Xena again recently, and I don't think there's anything like that on telly at the moment.

I've never seen any Xena! I feel like I should.

I love it! It is very silly, and quite awful sometimes, but then it is also quite brilliant, and it is all about Xena and Gabrielle and their enduring love. It is the OTP of all OTPs (I mean they even get crucified next to one another and die looking into each other's eyes.) I sometimes forget quite how much I love it, especially since I don't think there has ever been much else like it on telly (except possibly Cagney and Lacey).

DIE LOOKING INTO EACH OTHER'S EYES? I must see this. I SHALL see this.

It is ACE. That is not really a spoiler because it happens in season 4 and there's several seasons after that. Besides they both die quite a lot and it then usually involves the other one having to search various different underworlds to get the other back again. THEIR LOVE IS SO TRANSCENDENT EVEN DEATH HAS NO DOMIONION OVER IT. And then there are cracky episodes set in the future when they realise they are soulmates all over again (the one where Gabrielle is Indiana Jones, but mostly better on account of not being Harrison Ford, is EXCELLLENT, and the gendercrossed psychiatrist past lives one is also fab.) There are also Amazons, quite a lot of them, in Greece and Siberia, who dance around and fight centaurs. And they had musical episodes long before Buffy, and Christmas episodes with bad puns and all manner of wacky hijinks.
