I found out that I'm 43rd in line for the new Reacher book, so I just ordered it on Amazon instead. Can't wait. Nearly splashed out for 1st class post before coming to my frugal senses.

The flat is very cold. I found my fan heater though, so I am making one side of my body toasty warm, which unfortunately accentuates the coldness of the other side.

I have watched all of s1 of Party Down, and am halfway through the second, and I really really love it. They are at a party with Steve Guttenberg! I like Steve Guttenberg.

I am going to an event all day tomorrow, and so I don't need to be there until 10am. Lie-in! I have to go to a lecture in the evening, but that will be added to flexi time, so I'll be several hours in advance, oh yes. Wine and canapes on work time!

I found an aerial skills class, so I'll be doing that next month. Trapeze, silks and rope. It is on a Friday so at least I'll be able to recover the use of my arms over the weekend.

What small things are happening to you that are pleasing?

Oh, I really thought you were going to say 'for the throne' there. Still, I suppose we're all 43rd in line for the throne when you think about it.

Aerial skills sounds fun. Maybe practice holding your arms above your head for a while. Makes them potent. Or something.

Small pleasing things. I had a welsh-cake today. That was nice. For irritating reasons I'm currently allowing myself only one cake-like or otherwise pleasant thing per week, and that was it. Except I have two more welsh-cakes in the breadbin. I probably shan't stick to my arbitrary rule.

If you just eat welsh cakes all week, that probably counts as one thing. I reckon.

I wouldn't like to be 43rd in line for the throne. I've seen King Ralph, I'd be very worried the whole time.

Oh my goodness. I was slightly envious about the wine and canapes on work time, but aerial skills sounds fantastic! Can you be my mentor or something?

I did have a small, pleasing event today. One of the students came up to me after a (mostly crap) class and asked if I'd spent some time in England because of my accent.

If I don't fall off and break my arms I shall be very pleased, and not a little surprised. If you have a trapeze in your flat I'll demonstrate when I see you next.

That's great! Did you tell her you'd done a year abroad there or something? How's the teaching going, do you mostly have immersion in English for them, or do they sneak in German?

I am supposed to immerse them in English, but sometimes it's rasier to explain thigs inEnglish; moreover, i am offen overwhemed by the desire to Show off (and counter British stereotypes).

OH, I love the Steve Guttenberg episode of Party Down. I also love the one with JK Simmons but I IMAGINE that probably that one just made you cry a lot.

Aerial skills class sounds awesome! And I am quite jealous of your lie in. I had a shower tonight and I am menstruating. Both of these things have made my life better.

I had a bath last night. It was pretty nice, also I have clean sheets.

I'm missing Jane Lynch in series 2. She was a brilliant character. I was initially upset that no-one came to her party, but then she turned out horrible.

I WANT CLEAN SHEETS! I should clean my sheets.

Jane Lynch was ridiculously great. It was mostly having seen Party Down that made me finally watch Glee. So, you know, Party Down has its hazards.

Small pleasures

Apart from the getting up and having a sauna followed by a cold plunge as the beginning of another day of spa indulgence...? The delicious muesli with yoghurt and fresh berries served for breakfast.

I am not much of a one for a sauna, but the spa indulgence sounds absolutely fabulous.

I am more jealous of you than I can express. I wish my evening lectures were added to flexi time and/or that I was better at clawing back the HOURS OF MY LIFE that they eat from the soulless institution which demands them.

I do love flexi time. I miss being able to set my own schedule though, and work from home, and other things. I have to sign in and out for lunch. But yeah, it's pretty good.
