Oh, now I remember why I had to stop myself looking at ebay.

(Annual edition 1992, annual edition 1993, annual edition 1995 all bought; annual edition 1997 and a UK 1990s version being bid on. I went on to look for boots to wear to work.)

I have no knitting on the go, which is a little odd. I have just about finished seaming the baby jumper I made:

I have to find the buttons I bought and stitch them on, and then block it to send to New Zealand. I am quite pleased with it, though I am worried that as it's not all that well done the parents might feel obliged to put their daughter in it but not really want to.

I bought a bunch of wool in a charity shop, and I might try to make a sleeveless jumper. I have half the wool for the cardigan I want to make, but the other half got sent to my Lancaster address by mistake and I haven't yet recovered it.

Does this look like something that wouldn't be too difficult to teach myself the cables for? Or might it be worth buying this? I wouldn't do the embroidery. Or has anyone made a sleeveless jumper that they recommend that is not too tricky?

I am in awe of your knitting skills. I never managed to knit anything more complicated than a scarf. That jumper is amazing! I love the tiny robot.

I discovered on Saturday that I have accidentally been doing twisted stocking stitch all this time, and now I have to teach myself to do it properly.

My mum sent me a sort of beginners'-improvers' knitting book recently (Simple Knitting - it's really quite good) and the woman who wrote it (Erika Knight) said that she was working twisted stocking stitch unknowingly when she started. It's listed in the book as an interesting texture effect.

I was vaguely aware that what I was doing wasn't quite right, but it wasn't awful-looking so I thought I'd just leave it. I think I'm putting the wool round the wrong way.

It looks really good, by the way! I neglected to say that. Sometimes I assume people are telepathic. (Are you telepathic? That would save me SO much typing.)

I have been trying to tell you I'm not telepathic - if you didn't get that messag then it's probably true. Thank you!

I was squinting at the picture and wondering. But now you know so I don't have to ask. You definitely could do the cables (cables are really straight forward)

I shall have to do some test knitting to make myself relearn the stitches so I don't start doing twisted again in the middle of a stocking stitch project.

Maybe I will be brave and try the cables!

I like the hooded one a lot, and cables are quite easy to get the hang of (and are very satisfying).

I read the pattern and they do not seem easy at all! Nothing ventured, etc, I guess.

I know! He's very cute. Hopefully the baby will appreciate it.

I'm sure you could manage those cables. You might find it helpful to use stitchmarkers around each panel.
The brown top is cute but I think that neckline would be a pain to knit.

I have tried reading about cables, but I think I will wait until I can get someone to explain them to me in person. Probably can't afford another trip to Dallas to see [livejournal.com profile] anglaisepaon, but worth consideration!

Cute jumper!

This was a pretty easy sleeveless jumper, but you should be fine with cables (I've never successfully finished a cabled project, but that's not been the fault of the cables and I have high hopes for the current one).

Thank you! Maybe I could just make myself a big one.

That looks pretty cool.
