Bones bones bones bones
Mar. 20th, 2011 12:20 amI sometimes forget that I live with CHILDREN. Well, 22 year olds. I was sitting in the living room when Matt came in and said, oh, not heading out tonight then, in a tone that suggested surprise. No, for I am clearly happily ensconsed in my blanket on the sofa, with Bones in the DVD player, knitting in my hands, and cake within reach. Also it is HALF PAST NINE. Why would I go OUT so close to bedtime? Fools.
Also, when I have been carefully not reading about what happens, and even foregoing searching to see if the fic that I yearn for has been written, so that watching a series can be a lovely surprise to me, I get rather more than miffed when I am spoiled by the DVD menu screen. An option to watch the extended *spoiler* scene on the same screen as the link to watch the episode in which it happens? THAT IS A TERRIBLE IDEA. This would never have happened if my stupid slow internet hadn't prevented me from downloading the episodes illegally. There should be warning ads for people telling them of the dangers of legally purchased DVDs. YOU WOULDN'T SPOIL SOMEONE'S CAR, OR RUIN THEIR HANDBAG, OR DAMAGE THEIR TELEVISION. WHY WOULD YOU SPOIL THEIR ENJOYMENT OF TELEVISION???
I love Bones. (I am coming up to the end of series 3, and if anyone tells me, or even hints at what happens after that, there will be FURY.) I am writing a proper television post, so mostly I will go into detail there, but it is great. I also watched some Angel to see what that was like, and Booth is really different! It is like acting is involved or something.
I also love listening to It's Your Round which is the Radio 4 panel show that Angus is hosting now. It is magic, he reads out the scores and is sarcastic about people like a proper host. The guests all make up a round and bring it in and then they play it. They have had rounds like guests having to pick a member of the audience who they think will know the answer to a quiz question; what does Miles' [Jupp] dad know; and newspaper headline or cryptic crossword clue. The next show I've got to listen to has Nick Hancock on it! I really like it when he and Angus interact.
Also my housemate caused me to have to walk down and up the stairs to the flat, as he said he'd stepped over a drunk guy sleeping on our steps, and I asked if he was sure he was sleeping and he wasn't sure. When I went down the guy was sitting up and said he was waiting for a cab, so he was fine, but had my housemate checked then I could have just stayed on the sofa.

Date: 2011-03-20 12:28 am (UTC)Also the advert for spoiling would make more sense, because I genuinely wouldn't spoil someone's handbag, whereas I would take a copy of their handbag in an instant. I HATE LEGAL TELEVISION AND FILM, I HATE THEM.
I'm sorry that the drunk guy wasn't dead, Clare, sorry that he spoiled your evening by LIVING.

Date: 2011-03-20 04:04 pm (UTC)I had to sit through all the stupid ads at the start of a DVD that I LEGALLY BOUGHT as well.
If I have to go all the way down my stairs, then I expect at least a maiming.

Date: 2011-03-20 07:53 am (UTC)Preach, sister. There are two roller discos happening on my wife's birthday, but they both start at 10. At NIGHT. What is this fucking insanity?
Actually last time we went to one (which at least started at 8.30) when we left I said to the door guy, "Thank you; it's been lovely, but it's past our bedtime now."

Date: 2011-03-20 11:39 am (UTC)On the subject of theft, in FF VII yesterday I stole 5 gil from a child who had hidden it in a secret drawer. Then later I returned to find him crying and lamenting the theft. So naturally, I did what anyone would have done: I checked the secret drawer for more free stuff. But there wasn't anything.
