I have knitted my mum a scarf:

It was incredibly easy - stocking stitch forever, and then drop stitches right at the end. They're not entirely evenly spaced now, but I don't think my mum will mind. It's mochi plus yarn, which I got for a cardigan and then realised wouldn't work. (And now I've got off the whole idea of the cardigan so I'm going to frog it, or maybe turn the torso bit into a sleep bag for my new relative.) It's lovely and soft.

It may be incredibly easy, but the result is lovely. Go you! I hope your mum will like it.

Thank you! I do too - it's for mother's day, but I want to give it to her this weekend to save on postage.

That is a beautiful scarf. I like yarns where one colour seems to fade into the next. It does look very smooth and soft too.

I need to get my knitting mojo back and start on my next project. I got very bored with the last one, kept making mistakes, and didn't like the end result anyway, so I frogged it all. I just haven't sorted myself out for the next thing yet.

What was your last one? I am nearing the final stage of a pullover. I don't think it's going to work very well, too baggy, but I'm going to finish it up and see. I imagine I'll probably end up frogging it, but I feel like I'm so close and have spent so much time doing it that it would be a shame not to wear it at least once.

It was this stole.

I have some plans, courtesy of the lovely [livejournal.com profile] anglaisepaon, but I need to go and buy the right size of needle. One pattern is for a jumper (eek! scary!), and I might need some more of the yarn, too, and the other is for a beret, but I think I actually have enough of the yarn (which was going to be the Hestia stole) to make both the beret and a scarf to match. I'll probably use the free scarf pattern I got to make the scarf I made for my mother for her 70th birthday, since I like the way that pattern looks.

Thank you! I loved the yarn, I might see if I can think of something else I want to do with it. It's machine washable, too.

Lovely.

Do you use big needles and thinnish yarn to get the hole-y effect? I like it a lot.

It is aran yarn, apparently, but it was very variable and felt quite a bit thinner to me. I used US 10 needles (can't remember the metric version!). You're supposed to knit it quite loosely so that the ladders at the end work well.

Ooh, fab. I have a bookmark telling me the US to UK needle comparison. And this is absolutely glorious. I regret to admit that anything I do will emphatically NOT look like this, but I'm willing to give it a go :) It'll make a change from rugs, which is my current obsession (which *are* my current obsession)

Well, this is a very easy pattern, so it's one you could easily learn on, I think.
