I have a weird taste in my mouth. I think it is either that I have accidentally ingested some bicarb or cream or tartar and it is lingering amongst my tastebuds, or that when I went to the dentist yesterday he accidentally used poison to polish my teeth. (It was a routine check-up, and I have EXCELLENT teeth which I clearly take very good care of. I do have excellent teeth, but I often only brush once a day. I am the jammiest teeth-owning person alive.) I do hope the taste goes away soon, or turns out to be something treatable like a brain tumour.

I ingested unwise powder when I was making my cakes for my turn at work. I went for red velvet cupcakes that weren't really particularly red, and biscuits from M&S. People seemed to enjoy them. I certainly did, and am now planning what I shall make upon my departure.

I just bought a school story after Abe emailed me a want match. My matches almost never come up, and if they do they are either already gone or ridiculously expensive. Although I was looking at ebay prices for Chalet books and my GOD they are so much lower than when I was collecting them. I don't regret my purchases, but gosh.

My shelves are shrouded in bedsheets in anticipation of the builders who never come.

That last line is like poetry.

It is, isn't it? I rather loved the bit about ingesting unwise powder, too.

I hope the taste goes away soon. I always get very worried about weird tastes, in case they might involve me in a trip to the (shhhhh!) dentist. My parents always told me when I was little that they'd been unlucky with their teeth, and I should blame them for any problems with my own teeth. So I do.

It hasn't quite yet - half a tub of ice cream definitely shouldn't leave me with a savoury taste in my mouth, and yet! I think you should go on blaming them, it definitely sounds like it's their fault.

Congrats on the match. Instead of J M Page's The Twins on Trial they keep sending me links to "The Life, Trials and Dying Words of the Two Unfortunate Twin Brothers, Robert and Daniel Perreau, Who Was [Sic] Executed on Wednesday, January 17th, 1776, at Tyburn"...

Thanks - but alas I was too forward, as I opened my mail this morning to find that the seller had cancelled the order. Huh.

That Twins on Trial wrong book sounds quite excellent! And I know Tyburn is proper historic and all, but it always makes me think of Antonia Forest.
