My mum has expressed an interest in getting some jewellery for Christmas. She likes silver necklaces (rather than pendants and chains), quite modernish, a bit funky looking, not really those celtic designs they have. Unfortunately, the only other thing is that I will know when I look at it if she'll like it, but can't describe it. Does anyone know any reasonably priced online shops I could look at? Or some physical shops in Edinburgh would also work well!

Rosie Brown. It's on the Bruntsfield Road. There's several others down that way, and some good charity shops when you get down to Morningside. :-)

Palenque have shops on Rose St and the High St.

Those are very nice! But the necklaces I can afford from there aren't quite as nice, which is a shame. Maybe I will suggest some to my dad instead.

Si has bought me jewellery from a shop called Jupp. Based in London but I'm pretty sure they sell online too. They do some really good modern looking stuff, and while they have a really wide range of prices, do have some really great pieces at the lower end of the scale.

I bought my friend, whose has a thing for unique silver necklaces, a gift from this gallery (which afaik only stocks silversmith crafted items so, given time and a smith whose style you like, you could hypothetically order anything):

But the webpage isn't loading for me at the moment.

I'm sure you'll find something in Edinburgh though.

I should give Shetland Silvercraft a quick mention - http://www.shetlandjewellery.co.uk/home.php

Some of it's a bit Celticish, but lots isn't.

Thank you! I suppose it can't help being Celticish. It would be wrong not to be in the situation.

I have a lovely necklace from here:

And know the owner. If you want to see the necklace, just let me know.

My mum makes silver jewellery. This is totally not any kind of pressure to buy from her because she does it as a hobby and I know her stuff isn't to everyone's taste, but you can have a look at some of her stuff here if you'd like to (forgive the terrible website!). Good luck finding something for your mum.

Folksy! I am a total convert. Obv you can't see them first but I've only been happy with things I've bought from sellers on Folksy.
