Livejournal won't let me log-in on my laptop when I'm using Firefox. It's fine using Firefox at work, and it's fine using Internet Explorer (well, not fine) on my laptop, but using firefox on my laptop means it pretends to log me in, and then every time I look at my friends page or my journal, I am not logged in and can only see public entries. I tried reinstalling firefox, which didn't seem to help - any other things I can try?

I'm currently using revo unistaller to really get rid of firefox before trying another install.

That last sounds like a good idea: it does sound like it's Firefox on that particular computer.

Could it be an issue with cookies? Make sure that Firefox is accepting cookies (Tools | Options, then under Privacy, either choose 'Remember history', or choose 'Use custom settings for history' and set Firefox to accept cookies.)

Normally, I would also consider telling Firefox to clear all locally held data about the site, but if you've completely uninstalled it, that shouldn't be relevant.

Hooray, it has worked! Goodness knows what that was about. I saw someone on friendsfriends complaining about a similar issue, and lj told her it was a problem with her ISP, who got her to change where she had her modem plugged in - sounds bizarre!

Yay! I'm glad it worked. IE really wasn't a good alternative! I do hate having to use the wrong browser for something. It's like trying to cook in someone else's kitchen!

That's odd, because a few months ago I was kind of having that problem with Internet Explorer (I think). I would go to the Livejournal homepage, sign in, and then go to my friends page and be told I couldn't view that, because I wasn't signed in. Or I'd sign in, go to another page, click back to the Livejournal homepage and find out I'd been signed out again. This among a number of other problems I was having with Internet Explorer at the time. I installed Firefox and started using that instead, and haven't had the problem since. Weird.
