DeLuise primer
Aug. 3rd, 2013 11:47 amThe other night I dreamt that one of my lj friends (I knew who it was at the time, but couldn't remember when I woke up) had been to Canada, and met "one of the DeLuises", but didn't know which. I was, understandably, somewhat outraged that the person didn't know which DeLuise they had met, as well as the fact that they were unaccountably casual about it all and didn't seem to realise the great honour that had been bestowed upon them.
ANYWAY. There are three DeLuise brothers (that I care about, I mean, there are obviously other DeLuise brothers, by which I mean in other families there will be DeLuise brothers, not like the other Bronte sisters). I do not expect everyone to remember everything about each of them, but I CERTAINLY don't expect to have to dream about someone from my friendslist not being able to tell them apart.

1. Peter DeLuise is the oldest and indeed best DeLuise.

He starred alongside Johnny Depp in 21 Jump Street in the 1980s, then was Dagwood in Seaquest. He has also acted in several other things (not only things he directed!), but those are his main roles. He is better known now for directing, particularly for the various Stargate series, mostly Stargate: SG1. He is based in Vancouver, so it is likely that he is the DeLuise that my friend in my dream met. He is married to Anne-Marie DeLuise, who was Stella Kowalski in Due South.
2. Michael DeLuise is the middle DeLuise, sometimes called DeLuise Mi by me.

He was also in 21 Jump Street, but only the last series for a bit, and was in Seaquest as Tony Piccolo at the same time that Peter was being Dagwood, but they did not play brothers.

His bigger roles when he was young were in Wayne's World as one of the headbanging boys, and in Encino Man where he was the bully. He was also in Brooklyn South, which is a great series that I highly recommend you watch regardless of your affection for DeLuises, and played Andy Jr in NYPD Blue. Knowing my friendslist, he would be best-known to most of you as TJ from Gilmore Girls. He doesn't do many imdb-things at the moment, but I believe he does producing and other behind the scenes stuff. He is based in LA.
3. David DeLuise is the youngest and probably most famous DeLuise.

The fame is largely because of his longest-running role as Selena Gomez's dad in Wizards of Waverly Place. He was also Bug (one of the students in Dick's physics class) in 3rd Rock from the Sun. I am the least interested in David (but that is with a very high bar to clear), and I usually only make an effort to see his work if it sounds interesting in its own right, or features another DeLuise as well. He is also based in LA.
So there you go. Never again need you wander into my dreams without knowing which DeLuise you met.
