I have bought a new phone, it is a Huawei Ascend Y300, and it is purple. I was about to get the Samsung S3 Mini, then realised that it was about £150, while the Huawei was £60, for quite similar specs. It is charging now, and I am looking forward to setting it up when it is ready. I really missed my sudoku app.

I forgot to sterilise my mooncup last night, and so I am wearing a sanitary towel, which feels quite unusual now. This particular sanitary towel I bought in Tunisia after I failed to pack necessities, and required a stop at a late night chemist. Mostly in Tunisia I spoke French to people, and we got on quite nicely. This was not the case in the chemist. It turned out that I knew none of the relevant menstrual terms in French, and nor were any of the English words in a French accent magically the right words.

The kind woman behind the counter tried her best with me as I moved onto vague gesticulations and grasping at words - I must have seemed very prudish indeed as I came out with "blood! the blood of the women. The blood that happens in a month?" *points to vague area of uterus* "no, not injured... definitely not pregnant...um". Eventually she led me to a basket of sanitary towels which I was very happy to see, but somewhat chagrined that they were right at the door. I'd walked straight past them when I came in, and could have saved myself the linguistic shame. Last week Jess taught me arabic for sanitary towel (foota hammam!), so I am now prepared to deal with my lack of preparation in arabic-speaking and francophone countries across the globe.

Actually, I think I need a new mooncup, as I am at the official age where one's vagina is automatically considered just Too Big for the dainty size. There was a German company doing ones in fancy colours, maybe I will get a bright pink one. If there is one with skulls on I will be delirious with joy. Though I feel some loyalty to the proper mooncup company, and the mooncup has been good to me. We've come a long way together since this icon.

I am in a similar position re: turning 30 and now apparently being too big-cunted for my current Mooncup (though I haven't noticed it falling out) and if there were such things as brightly coloured Mooncups without 'THE MOONCUP' in annoyingly-difficult-to-clean raised letters I would be all over them like bloodstains on old sheets. But at the same time, ah! mooncup old friend, I have had you since 2005 and we have been many places together, although admittedly your view was not as good as mine, and I should feel callous replacing you just like that.

"although admittedly your view was not as good as mine"

Hee! Also, I think it's meluna cups I was thinking of - can't really look at them as am at work, but iirc they are bright adn do not have raised letters.

It probably is MeLuna. I used one of theirs (purple) until I got pregnant. I think I might get a glittery one next, but probably not the Christmas gift set one though. They come with different grabby bits and in 4 sizes.

I used my smaller-size mooncup until I was 36 with no problems, and the only reason I changed to the larger size was that it seemed reasonable to assume that giving birth would have made a difference.
