I found photos I'd forgotten I'd taken on my phone.

This annoyed me when I saw them on sale in Sainsburys. Exercising? Why not look at the camera, stick your butt up so that your spine twists, and stick on a sultry pout! Unless you're a man, in which case just get on with it. (Hugely buff, but apart from that.)



This is some graffiti in the underpass near where I live. I like it because I read it as pleasingly non-sectarian - make up your own mind! Just vote in the referendum!



I was enjoying the other graffiti there as well, some weird stuff about Neil Diamond and Jesus, and remarked on it to a friend when we then walked past a bit where someone had written "immigrants go home". But when I walked past it again the other day someone had scribbled it out, which is nice.

Isn't the graf a stylised St Andrew's cross for Scotland though? /ignorant of the Scots and their ways, obv

Well, yes. But the referendum isn't for or against Scotland. So the Saltire represents Scotland in either its independent or British state, and the graffiti doesn't commit to anything other than an exhortation to make a decision about Scotland. *I* think.

Or perhaps it's a vicious call for Youdecide? The blue cross then becomes a way of saying "Thus perish all Youds!"

Those are annoying photos, by the way. In the first, she seems to be using the bars to scrub the floor.

That's what happens when you put women into a man's world of physical activity. Their hindbrains take over and the natural inclination to do housework comes to the fore.

Ah, ok, I just assumed that separating the flags into "Scottish" and "Union" was a political statement, especially as it's been in the "news" again lately. I'm sure you know more about Scottish street culture than I do.

Quick thought: exercise wheels are EVIL. It's the same action as grinding with a saddle quern, and the Human Skeletal Remains in Archaeology class I attended found characteristic joint damage: to the joint of the big toe, as you have to have a lot of weight on it, and to the spine. Our tutor did an article on it for "Scientific American" and she was sickened by adverts for the wheel.
