Tony Benn is dead and twitter is annoying. At least when LJ used to clog up with posts on the same subject there was some variation because people would take the time (and had the space) to actually write something about why they were sad (or, conversely, on the side of stingray), instead of just announcing someone is dead as though you are the news or something, or that you didn't get it from twitter yourself and are pretending to be ahead of the curve. And everyone keeps retweeting the same thing only from different sources and I wish they would stop. I know he put up the fucking plaque, stop telling me as though it was some wonderful, epoch-changing achievement instead of someething a little bit cool. I think there should be something that identifies if something has already been posted, and pops up to someone trying to do the same thing saying "this already exists. Do you really have something new to add on the subject?" to try and shame people into shutting up.

I'm seeing on my twitter feed various dissenting voices too - pointing out that Benn wasn't in fact a saint either (roadbuilding, pro nuclear). So YYMV I guess.

Some of them are a bit ambiguous, like this one - I think it's critical but you have to read it quite carefully (and the replies).
