In two weeks today I move to Myanmar! And the big Jess news I was waiting to share is that SHE WILL BE THERE TOO. Not only in the same country, but the very same town, Sittwe (though working for different organisations). Our offices are 150m apart, guesthouse proximity yet to be determined. We are looking forward to reading silently in one another's company, pretending we are about to exercise any moment, and having someone to rant to about colleagues. AWESOME.

Before that, there is Fringing to be done. I have lured various people to Edinburgh to see things with me, and my spreadsheet got a good workout devising itineraries. I'll be seeing quite a few acts who are new to me, which I feel that I haven't done as much recently.

Shameless continues. It is deeply hypocritical about underage sex for boys and girls, exploitative, not quite sure of the line between explosing homophobia and being homophobic, intermittently deeply misogynistic, but I am still addicted. I like looking up photos of the cast after they've left and don't have the incredibly unflattering haircuts inflicted on them.

My reading has been almost entirely Agatha Christie in July. I worked my way thorugh Poirot and am currently on Third Girl, which I'm sure I've read before but have no memory of. I remember as a teenager really liking Miss Marple on TV and not caring for Poirot at all, but I've very much enjoyed my journey with the egg-headed sleuth. I hadn't realised how few Marple book there actually are, but will go through those next.

Yesterday I went to the EcoLarder, my local hippy food no-plastic shop, for a craft session. We were learning how to make beeswax wraps to replace clingfilm, to be sold in the shop. I did a fair amount of grating sticks of beeswax and ironing between greaseproof paper, but gave up on cutting squares after my one attempt could barely be called regtangular. I blame the pinking shears. I got one to take home, but I don't actually use clingfilm so haven't used it yet. I could take ti to Myanmar, but I worry the heat and humidity would just melt the wax onto food. The Ecolarder was good, adn I will definitely go back with some receptacles for washing up liquid, cleaner and the like. It will also be good to be able to buy specifically only what I need when trying new recipes. I have 200g of jasmine rice that I need to use up after my previous cooking attempt.

Gosh, that is very exciting news! Pretending to be about to exercise is always more fun in company.

I have not been rereading Poirot but have been watching a lot of the Suchet adaptations, and will look forward to talking about Christie when we meet again.

I was looking at wax wraps in Real Foods, because I do use cling film, although mostly for things which I should stop buying because they are already in non-recyclable packaging. Pinking shears are the devil's work.
