Thank you VERY much for your tenuous celebrity connections. I enjoyed them all immensely. [personal profile] ankaret has inspired another nosiness in me - what is your best online celebrity (or "celebrity" encounter) online, either yours or ones you have watched friends and family have? I have some not great ones myself:

Tim Fitzhigham (comedian) retweeted me when I said Daniel Radcliffe in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead looked eerily like a young him.

Kate Bornstein followed me briefly on twitter after someone told her I researched fun, but then when I excitedly messaged her and said I was so pleased and would be happy to tell her more about my work if I could email her she clearly didn't know what I was talking about and shut me down.

I saw the 1980s-90s long-distance runner Liz McColgan's competiting in (I think) the London Marathon a few years ago and said on Twitter 'Stop making me feel old, Liz McColgan's daughter', and Liz McColgan's daughter liked the tweet.

A relative of Victor Spinetti also liked and commented on a Victor Spinetti-related tweet I wrote, though I recall nothing more about it.

I've interacted with the Rev Richard Coles online, but hasn't everyone?

And Ben Goldacre once retweeted something my mother said and we were very excited about that.

(I missed the first instance of the word daughter out of this comment and also invented the word competiting. Liz McColgan's daughter. Competing.)

Lord Buckethead liked a tweet in which I mentioned him!

I had a nice interaction with noted lesbophobe Marian Keyes on Twitter, and she now follows me (but she follows so many people that I don't think we've interacted since).

I've had quite a few exciting-to-me interactions with authors I admire on Twitter, but one thing that Twitter makes painfully clear is that most writers are absolutely not celebrities, compared to other public figures.

I did not know Marian Keyes was a lesbophobe. :(

I am pleased to say that her latest one did not! I think she may have copped on (as she is generally pretty right on in other areas).

I've only read one of her books, so hadn't encountered this often enough to see it as a pattern.

Off the top of my head, author interactions on Twitter that have excited me include Layla al Ammar, Nadifa Mohamed (we are Twitter FRIENDS now), Guy Gavriel Kay and Leigh Bardugo.

Lucy Worsley exploded a heart(*) on my tweet where I said a picture of her at a ship's wheel was proof that she was Lucy Pevensie all grown-up as she would be if Aslan hadn't been such a bastard.

*Okay, she liked the tweet. It still looked like she exploded a heart on it.

That is sad about Kate Bornstein.

She liked my retweet of a post of her in a frockcoat with a comment about her dressing up photos always being cheery or some such too 😄

I am so glad Lucy Worsley appreciates those who appreciate her exploration of history via dressing up.

I got very excited the first time Ellen Kushner tweeted Ankaret back in my timeline!

I think the Knightmare Live Twitter account retweeted me once when I posted about Knightmare.

I was at university with Tim Fitzhigham. I have just looked up a picture of Daniel Radcliffe in R&GAD, and you are entirely right - dead ringer for the younger Tim.

Not as far as I remember; what springs to mind is acting (I remember him in The Madness of George III) and getting drunk!

I forget why I tweeted to say that I was glad that Lizzie Armitstead was world road cycling champion; I don't think it was even road cycling season; but anyway, she liked it.

I have been tweet-liked by Nicky Campbell (about his Big Question show), and Jessye Romeo, the daughter of Soul II Soul's Jazzie B (about Soul II Soul). The latter is infinitely cooler, of course.

I don't know - I did once (long ago) tweet that Pompidou wasn't funny, so maybe it was that. As for why I am proud of it, that is because I am a horrid person

I set up a Mark Kermode fan community on Livejournal, and Simon Mayo told him about it on the radio and he was horrified. This was in about 2005, well before the thriving Kermode & Mayo fan community on Facebook came into being. (I have not joined the latter as I'm still a bit miffed...)

Suzanne Vega replied to a tweet of mine saying that based on the lyrics of "In Liverpool" I wasn't sure she knew much about bellringing to agree that that was probably true. (I didn't @ her, but maybe she or her social media people have a search set up.)

Everything I know about bellringing I learned from The Nine Tailors, but it basically comes down to "if there are multiple bells ringing there will be more than one person ringing them", whereas the song talks about "the boy in the belfry" as if he was ringing a full peal solo.

Had a conversation with actress Meredith Salenger about The Journey of Natty Gann, a childhood fave of mine she's in.

Taye Diggs follows me. I have NO idea why. Assume it was a bot or something.

Chatted to Rainbow Rowell a couple of times, but she's generally very engaged.

Oh and one of the Stereophonics (one of the new ones, not an original member) liked a tweet about one of their lyrics.
