antisoppist mentioned the game Alchemy where you discover elements. Well. She's basically ruined my life. I have been researching things like "how do you make aluminium" to try and get further (still couldn't work it out, watched a video to get given aluminium and broaden my horizons). I just had to google Ghost Rider to work out what on earth one combined with a motorbike to get it if corpse and grave didn't work (I haven't yet discovered ghost itself, so knew it wasn't a ghost). Fire, it turns out. The game is also pretty sexist in that you make man and woman separately, and then if you combine man with other things you get eg scientist, assassin, but not if you also but swords with women. I generally do some educated guesses and then systematically match things up, but the systematicness is now taking a long time as I have discovered 362 things (out of 500). I fear I may never discover cheese.

You've got a motorbike?? How have you got a motorbike? Daughter is in the kitchen yelling that she hasn't got aluminium either. They wouldn't tell me how to make needle for days. Except I knew it didn't involve aluminium.

I am at 402 and a lot of the things it now says I can make are popular culture references that I do not know. I spent ages mixing different types of alcohol in the hope that this would make "bender" and then younger daughter said she'd made that accidentally and it involved a robot.

It is annoyingly sexist.

Do you really want to know about the motorbike? I am happy to tell you if you do! It was one of the ones where I didn't get it for ages until I realised you could join two of the same thing together, and hten I got bike and motorbike followed.

Needle I only found because of randomly trying things with other things.

the pop culture thing is really irritating. How was I to know bumblebee meant a robot thingy and not an actual bumble bee?

I have just for the nth time added all the vaguely dairy things I have, combined with likely things like mold and water and farmer and even worm, only to be met yet again with the dispiriting announcement that no new combinations are possible. Could you tell me one of the things that make cheese so at least have something to work with?

What dairy things have you got? Presumably milk? Have you got yoghurt? Then you need to keep combining each one with fire in a hierarchy of increasing solidity.

Fire????? I hadn't ever thought that cheese might involve FIRE. I've been shoving fat at everything. I'd had quark(cheese) for days, but not been able to combine it with anything. Fire. Who'd have thought. Now off to add everything I can think of to cheese.

I do find double tap to add Earth, Air, Fire and Water and then see if you can make more things than you could before quite a useful tactic. Well sometimes.

It doesn't even say I can make motorbike (I have got bicycle) so I must be missing something vital. It can't be umbrella. I have given up trying to make umbrella.

I don't even have umbrella as an option. It is interesting that there are clearly many routes as I am not so far behind you in numbers, but we are on quite different tracks it seems.

Sometimes the three of us go through the lists of the things it says we can make and it is entertainingly different and reveals whole swathes of unimagined things.

I am up to 466 having shamefully watched a video to get sugar, only to find I don't know how to make caramel. And I am also stuck on Yoda and Shrek who seem to me that they should have something green in common but I can't find what.

453. I only got petrol last night, which was rather impressively useful. And Coca-Cola. And I finally made umbrella but by accident. I have got both Yoda and Shrek but they are final elements so I can't look at them to see how I did it.

Have not got sugar. Or cocoa. And I am being annoyed by tractor.

For skyscraper ignore height and think more about buildings and materials.

I accidentally got it not that long ago when finding out what went with glass. Found countries so have been polishing those off. Still trying to work out what stereotype gets me Saudi Arabia.

Ah, I'm using Little Alchemy 2, which is a browser one. I've forgotten how I got horse. I remember that applying metal to it got me a horseshoe.

It is "great alchemy" in Google play (I can't work out how to link it). All sorts of things that aren't elements are there. The ones I resent most are the copyrighted ones.

Google would put a bunch of copyrighted things in their game. They have the power. I'm busy trying to make rare flower breeds in Animal Crossing at the moment, so I think I'll give it a miss.
