Mmmm... cauliflower with white sauce. And for some reason broccoli makes me bloated and rubbish so I avoid it like a big plague type thing.
I don't think the age of consent in the UK works because it gives people tii much excuse not to teach safe sex and STI awareness to people "underage". Regardless of age of consent people will always have sex when they want, and are more likely to wait if they know more about sex than if they there's an age of consent. Additionally the age of consent laws are complete bollocks because as far as I know they actually only apply to women/girls and men/boys are therefore eligible for being prosecuted for statutory rape if they're 17 and having sex with a 15 year old. Seeing as in the majority of cases girls have been shown to be more mature than boys it's hardly surprising that they are often dating, and consequently having sex with, someone older. I think I read once that France has too ages of consent and the male age was older than females, but that may have just been a teenage myth.
I know originally it was definitely women only, and I don't know whether it was ever officially updated.
The one point I missed off of that mini-rant before was of course teenage pregnancy rates. The Netherlands, where the age of consent is 12, and where sexual health is taught from an extremely early age have a teenage pregnancy rate of 6.8 per 1000, compared to the US (where the age of consent varies but is often 18) which 83.6 per 1000 and the UK which is 46.9 per 1000.
