Has anyone seen The 39 Steps, as in the play that's 4 actors playing 150 roles and was best comedy? If so, how much of it is dependent on having seen the film? I actually haven't read the book either, but could do so in time.

I saw it in the Tricycle and Jack Devenport, Jonathan Aitken & Michelle Gomez were all in the audience (all rellies of the director).

But celeb-spotting squee aside, no you don't need to have seen the film, but I'd say its MUCH more fun if you have.

I don't think I will get to see the film by the time I'm thinking of going to see it, but it sounds like it could be worth it anyway. Even if my audience is less likely to contain Michelle Gomez.
